INFORMATION LETTER

    The Egyptian University of Islamic Culture Nur-Mubarak, in cooperation with the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan and the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), announces the organization of the 3rd International Seminar titled “Culture of Kazakhstan and the Manuscript Heritage of Islam: A Case Study of the Collections of the Golden Horde and Mamluk Egypt”.
    The international seminar will take place on October 9–10, 2025. It is organized within the framework of the scientific grant project “Islam in the Digital Space (on the Example of Contemporary Kazakhstan)” (IRN “AP19680228”), funded by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Venue: Egyptian University of Islamic Culture Nur-Mubarak, 73 Al-Farabi Avenue, Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Languages: Kazakh, Arabic, English, and Turkish.

Format: Offline and online.

Aim of the Seminar

The aim of the 3rd International Seminar is to study and identify the academic fields of science and art through which cultural contacts between Kazakhstan and the Middle East developed during the 13th–16th centuries, and to discuss practical issues related to organizing research based on newly discovered manuscript collections and historical documents from the Middle East and Central Asia.

  • To develop and implement new approaches and methodologies for analysis
  • To explore new forms of cooperation among academic schools

Plenary Session:

  • Cultural and Scientific Life in the Golden Horde and the Mamluk State

Sectional Sessions:

  • Manuscript Heritage and the Study of Cultural Life in the Golden Horde and Medieval Kazakhstan
  • The Significance of Mamluk Document and Manuscript Collections
  • Development of International Cooperation and Creation of Digital Collections
  • Book Exhibition: “Egyptian Publications on the Study of the Heritage of the Golden Horde and the Mamluks”
  • Exhibition: “Works of Kazakh Thinkers and Artisans from the Collections of the Arab Republic of Egypt”
Requirements for Scientific Articles
  • Abstract (150 words) – in Kazakh, English, and the article’s language
  • Keywords: 5–8 words
  • Introduction: 200–250 words (including justification, aims, objectives, methodology)
  • Main body – findings and analysis
  • Conclusion and references (APA 7)
  • Length – minimum 10–12 pages

Note

All submitted research articles will undergo a rigorous review by three reviewers. Only articles that receive positive evaluations will be accepted for presentation. Accepted articles will be published in the conference proceedings free of charge. Authors will receive an electronic copy of the proceedings. Materials submitted after the deadline or not meeting the requirements will not be considered.
